New Group at Nokomis Square…

A new creative outlet for NSC residents is the Readers Theater.  For those unfamiliar with the concept, a readers theater is a group of people who read plays aloud with different people reading the lines of a specific character.  The best example is to think of the old radio shows where “plays” were performed on-air.  In fact, we have several old radio scripts in-hands to be performed by the group.

This group is just forming, and anyone is welcome to join in for the fun.  No experience is necessary, but if you have some you’re still welcome.  We need voices of all sorts.  We could also use some people who might not want to read but have amazing ideas for creative sound effects.  The group will probably start out doing old radio scripts, because they are readily available and relatively short.  Some that we have even include old commercials.  Perhaps after we get our feet a bit wet, we also might pursue more serious and/or lengthy drama that reads well and doesn’t need lots of stage effects or props.  Bottom line” No experience necessary, no auditions, no costumes necessary, no sets necessary.  What is necessary are enthusiasm and the willingness to try something new.  The intent is to have fun while doing something creative.  If you are interested in being part of this nascent group, please leave a note in the Newsletter mail slot.
