“Nokomis Square Cooperative is located in an ideal neighborhood, close to lakes, walking paths, a public library, grocery store, post office, and hardware store. I enjoy being a part of this community while also having private space. NSC is a vibrant, welcoming, active and involved community in a lovely, open building, surrounded by beautiful grounds and gardens.” L.

“Convenience to community, stores, etc. I can walk to everything. The dining room, and wonderful staff!” G.

“Halfway between Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Falls Park, 20 minute walk either way. Public transportation is close. The #7 bus runs along 34th Avenue, 1 block away. The Blue Line train is 15 minutes walk, both to 46th Street Station and to 50th Street Station. The #7 bus goes to the 46th Street Station, then the Blue Line train to the airport or to downtown Minneapolis. Library and grocery store, an easy 5 minute walk. I chose Nokomis Square because of the access to public transportation.” B.

“Nokomis Square is a concrete and steel construction built in a beautiful park-like neighborhood. The cost of membership is very reasonable. The staff and members are great!” D.

“[NSC offers] a real sense of community in a safe concrete and steel building in an area that feels like a village within the city. I moved here to be close to my daughter and son-in-law, they live within a mile of NSC.” M.

“I like Nokomis Square for all the friendly people, all the activities and the location close to shopping and churches.” C.

“…Good quality meals, garage, closeness to family, and building security!” R.

“Our building is well built and in a good neighborhood which is safe and good for walking.” N.

“I was very pleased when I entered Nokomis Square for the first time and saw the beautiful light that filled the soaring [space]. It was a surprise after viewing many other possible living options with dark hallways and entrances.” L.

“The facility is centrally located to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, with bus and light rail available…” E.

Video: Carefree Living, Workshop and Craft Room: “When my wife and I moved in to this building we thoroughly looked it over and we came down here and I saw the work shop and looked at Lois and said ‘we’ve got it made, they’ve got space down here for me to play in!'”.

More from our members:

“Living in this community is like living in a small town in the middle of a large city. Two national banks, a super market, public library, and several good restaurants are just a few of the conveniences within two or three blocks. We enjoy walking the parkways and the lakes, and feel comfortable and secure at Nokomis Square.” H.

“Walking 34th Avenue and surrounding area is a real eye opener! It’s amazing how many shops and services are within walking distance from ‘The Square.’ We’re very proud of our neighborhood.” M.

“We do the gardening ourselves. Everyone takes pride in our beautiful backyard. We feed the birds, too!” B.

“Wonderful place to live! I moved here in 1999 and found this to be one of the best-built buildings in the Twin Cities — very quiet and well maintained. We have a great staff and a great bunch of people. With hot water heating, central air and underground parking, how can you go wrong?” T.

“Great neighbors are a hallmark of Nokomis Square. There are many opportunities to enjoy each other, whether over coffee 24/7 or participating in social events or monthly activities. It’s a friendly community and no one ever needs to feel alone.” J.
